Rhyl All Stars 6 Kinmel Bay Reserves 1

Rhyl All Stars with manager Robert Cunnah (back row – furthest left)

Hat-tricks from Harrison Bellis and Simon Roberts secured a convincing win for the All Stars in a game where they trailed 1-0 at half time.

A fantastic volleyed goal gave Kinmel an interval lead, but the Rhyl hosts made changes in personnel and formation for the second half and emerged a totally different proposition.

Roberts slotted a solid penalty into the bottom right corner before his shot was parried by the Kinmel keeper, but Bellis converted the rebound, making it 2-1 to the greens.

After a counter attack a ball was played through to Bellis on halfway. He ran into the box under pressure, turned the defender, cut inside and put the ball into the bottom corner making it 3-1.

Not long after Bellis was felled in the box and Roberts made it 4-1 with his second spot-kick.

Bellis headed into the top corner to complete his treble, and Roberts did the same with a great first touch and finish.

Winning manager Robert Cunnah said: “After a poor first half performance from us and a dominant performance from the Bay, we came out for the second half a completely different team.

“The early penalty provided the much needed momentum to go on and score more goals.

“We looked much more like the team we have been over the last few weeks in the second half. We created so many chances and were moving the ball round the pitch much better.”

Llanystumdwy 2 Pwllheli 7

A very strong performance from the visitors earned them an emphatic win in Thursday night’s friendly.
