Rugby player Eloise Kirby’s team-mates proved she means the world to them by presenting her with a special award.

Bangor University Women’s Rugby club captain Eloise was named Player’s Player of the Year for 2020-21.

Grassroots North Wales previously reported on Efa Williams getting Club Captain’s Player and Luned Williams receiving Coach’s Player of the Season. Today we feature three more award winners.

Player’s Player: Eloise Kirby

Eloise Kirby

This award goes to the player who has shown outstanding ability and sportsmanship and/or exceptional dedication to the club.

BUWRU commented: “This season, Eloise has gone above and beyond for the team, in her planning and organisation of training, fundraising and socials, ensuring that they were all Covid compliant.

“But more than this, she has been the life and soul of the team, demonstrating a great attitude in the face of a difficult year.

At training she has consistently put in huge amounts of effort and has really developed not only her skills but also her knowledge and understanding of the game as well as stepping up to coach her fellow team-mates.

“For this they have voted her BUWRU’s players’ player for 2020/21.”

Chwaraewraig y Chwaraewyr : Eloise Kirby

Mae’r wobr hon yn mynd i’r chwaraewr sydd wedi dangos gallu rhagorol a ‘sportsmanship’ a / neu ymroddiad eithriadol i’r clwb.

“Y tymor hwn, mae Eloise wedi mynd y tu hwnt i’r tîm, wrth iddi gynllunio a threfnu hyfforddiant, codi arian a chymdeithasu, gan sicrhau eu bod i gyd yn cydymffurfio â chwmni.

Ond yn fwy na hyn, mae hi wedi bod yn fywyd ac enaid y tîm, gan ddangos agwedd wych dros flwyddyn anodd.

“Wrth hyfforddi mae hi wedi gwneud llawer iawn o ymdrech yn gyson ac mae hi wir wedi datblygu nid yn unig ei sgil ond hefyd ei gwybodaeth a’i dealltwriaeth o’r gêm yn ogystal â chamu i hyfforddi ei chyd-chwaraewyr.

Ar gyfer hyn maen nhw wedi pleidleisio fel chwaraewraig y chwaraewyr BUWRU ar gyfer 2020/21 ”

Fresher of the Year: Ellie Twiggs

Ellie Twiggs (right)

This award goes to the newest member who has had the biggest impact.

BUWRU commented: “Ellie has been awarded Fresher of the Year, thanks to her ongoing commitment to the club. Despite training and socials being disrupted this year Ellie has involved herself in the team, learning about rugby as well as bonding with her team-mates. You only have to look back to our OAP social to see how ready she is to get involved.

“Ellie stepped up at the AGM, as the only fresher to run for a role, and was voted in as our treasurer for next season.”

Glasfyfyriwr y flwyddyn : Ellie Twiggs

Mae’r wobr hon yn mynd i’r aelod mwyaf newydd sydd wedi cael yr effaith fwyaf.

“Mae Ellie wedi derbyn Glasfyfyriwr y Flwyddyn, diolch i’w hymrwymiad parhaus i’r clwb. Er gwaethaf y tarfu ar ymarferion a “socials” eleni mae Ellie wedi cymryd rhan yn y tîm, gan ddysgu am rygbi yn ogystal â bondio gyda’i gyd-chwaraewyr.

Nid oes ond rhaid ichi edrych yn ôl at ein cymdeithasol OAP i weld pa mor barod yw hi i gymryd rhan.

“Camodd Ellie i fyny yn y Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol, fel yr unig glasfyfyriwr i redeg am rôl, a phleidleisiwyd i mewn fel ein Trysorydd ar gyfer y tymor nesaf.”

Virtual Legend: Maren Bick-Maurischat

Maren with her award

A new award this year, this award goes to the player who has excelled online.

BUWRU commented: “Maren has shown excellence in her engagement in our online sessions throughout the year.

She has attended all of our online sessions, be it virtual learning, HIIT or the online socials. In the virtual learning she would often be asking questions and making the most of our chance to actually discuss tactics and laws of rugby.

“Maren was also consistently getting involved in the BULL challenges – did you know lemon juice can erase highlighter pen? She also got involved with our charity fundraisers, in March she pledged to run 27 miles in 27 days for Mind and in April she was a key part in organising our Yoga Fusion Fundraiser for Oddballs.”

‘Legend’ Rhithiol : Maren Bick-Maurischat

Gwobr newydd eleni, mae’r wobr hon yn mynd i’r chwaraewr sydd wedi rhagori ar-lein.

“Mae Maren wedi dangos rhagoriaeth yn ei hymgysylltiad yn ein sesiynau ar-lein trwy gydol y flwyddyn. Mae hi wedi mynychu ein holl sesiynau ar-lein, boed yn ddysgu rhithiol, HIIT neu’r cymdeithasu ar-lein. Yn y dysgu rhithiol byddai hi’n aml yn gofyn cwestiynau ac yn gwneud y gorau o’n cyfle i drafod tactegau a deddfau rygbi.

“Roedd Maren hefyd yn cymryd rhan yn gyson yn heriau BULL – a oeddech chi’n gwybod y gall sudd lemon ddileu highlighter? Cymerodd ran hefyd gyda’n codwyr arian elusennol, ym mis Mawrth addawodd redeg 27 milltir mewn 27 diwrnod i Mind ac ym mis Ebrill roedd hi’n rhan allweddol wrth drefnu ein Codwr Arian Yoga Fusion ar gyfer Oddballs.”
