ICON SPORTS NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE – REPORTS JUNE 13

DIVISION TWO

Bersham (3) 91-10 Mold 2nd XI (12) 92-7

Mathew Skillander’s pivotal innings of 46 ensured table-toppers Mold 2nds took the spoils in a low-scoring tussle at Bersham.

The home side chose to bat, but their big-hitters were becalmed on this day as the visitors bowled them out for just 91.

Number nine Suranga Thilakarathne did best with 26 not out, while for Mold, Noa Grant took 3-19, Lewis Pringle 3-29, Keith Embleton 2-10 and Craig Roberts 2-24.

Skillander’s knock was vital as Mold made it to 92-7 in the 38th over, Tim Jones with 2-11 and Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage 2-14 off nine for Bersham.

Buckley (15) 90-1 Gresford 2nd XI (0) 87-10

Blistering Buckley are hot on the heels of leaders Mold 2nds after Saturday’s maximum points win over Gresford 2nds.

They bowled out the visitors for 87 after putting them in, Rhys Jones 3-12, Adam Shaw 3-15 and Louis Parry 2-28.

Joel Sampson (48 not out) and Sam Evans (26 no) then guided the hosts to a winning 90-1.

Carmel & District (12) 126-6 Denbigh 2nd XI (3) 124-7

Derek Johnson’s superb spell of 5-17 off eight overs set up Carmel for a home victory.

Daniel Owens also grabbed 2-10 from eight as Denbigh were restricted to 124-7 off their 40 overs.

Carmel lost six wickets in reaching the winning post of 126, wicket-keeper Ryan Roberts the main man with an unbeaten 47.

Marchwiel & Wrexham (15) 58-0 Llay Welfare 2nd XI (0) 55 all out

It was a short-lived affair at Marchwiel & Wrexham with just 25.3 overs (153 balls) needed to determine a result.

Probably made it one of the briefest encounters in the league in recent years.

Eight-player Llay were put in and dismissed for just 55 in 19.2 overs, Josh Williams 3-6 and Sion Edwards 2-12.

The hosts blasted their way to 58-0 in 6.1 overs, Sam Shoemark 36 no and Michael Forgrave 20 no.

Menai Bridge 2nd XI (11) 194-6 Mochdre 2nd XI (4) 176-10

Bill Bixby was The Incredible Hulk (well, the milder alter-ego who turned into The Hulk before Lou Ferringo did his stuff), but Sam Bixby and Matt Bixby were the incredible batsmen in this Menai Bridge success.

Both scored half-centuries as the Anglesey side emulated their firsts by claiming a narrow and hard-fought win over Mochdre.

Bridge won the toss and batted, Sam Bixby hitting 71. Matt Bixby 57 and William Ridge 26 not out in a home total of 194-6, Finlay Jones 2-25 and Liam Herbert 2-41 for the visitors.

Mochdre gave it a real go, but were bowled out for 176, Dan Miller 37, Daniel Phillips 31 no, Finlay Jones 29 and Sean McHale 26.

For the hosts, Josh Massey snapped up 3-27 and Sam Bixby 2-41.

St Asaph 2nd XI (2) 143-10 Northop 2nd XI (13) 195-10

Chris Brooks (71) and Henry Dowd (69) played the big knocks which ensured Northop took the honours at Elwy Grove Park.

The Flintshire side amassed 195 all out, Amer Jamil 3-37 and David North 2-28 for the home team.

Saints were sent packing for 143, captain Ben Murphy 42, Richard Aram 39 and Roger Cloate 30, Joe Griffiths the leading Northop bowler with 4-44, Thomas Hughes 2-16 and Josh Griffiths 2-18.
