Happy birthday Conner Kendrick

Conner Kendrick will be looking to build on the impact he has already made as a Mold Alexandra player when the 2021-22 season kicks off next month.

The highly-rated striker joined the Alex in September 2019 and contributed a good few goals before the campaign was halted in March 2020 due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

With the entire 2020-21 season cancelled from tier 2 downwards through the Covid-19 situation, it has been a fair while since Conner and his team-mates have got to kick a competitive ball.

So there will be plenty of excitement in the Alyn Park camp as preparations for the 2021-22 term in tier 3 Ardal North West step up.

Conner is 26 today, having been born on June 10, 1995.

He is pretty much in his prime, therefore, and it is no wonder Alex supporters are looking forward to seeing him in action in the coming months.

Conner’s last full season was an exceptional one.

In 2018-19, he was an essential part of the Cefn Albion side which landed the FAW Trophy and Welsh National League Premier Division Cup double.

Conner netted in both finals – scoring in the 4-0 victory over Pontardawe to secure the Trophy and bagging a hat-trick in the Premier final, which saw the Cefners ironically defeat Mold 5-1.

The striker rates that 2018-19 season as the best of his career to date and remembers with particular affection the Trophy semi against STM Sports, where he defied injury to score in a 3-1 triumph.

He recalled: “The game was 1-1 at full time so it went into extra time and about 10 minutes in I was brought on but I could hardly run.

“Into the second half of extra time I think there were seven left to go before penalties.

“The ball got played over the top and I saw the keeper coming off his line and lobbed him to make it 2-1. In the end we won 3-1 to go through to the final.”

Conner has always played at a good level, having represented Wrexham, Chester and Penycae before his time with Cefn Albion and now Mold Alexandra.

He sees his strengths as pace, passing, his touch and shooting, while believing his heading needs improvement.

Mold Alex will certainly be a team to watch out for in Ardal North West and no doubt Conner Kendrick will be one of their chief potential headline makers.

Happy birthday Conner – have a great day.
