FAN-tastic news on return of supporters

Bangor 1876’s Treborth ground will be the first to stage an FAW Test Event game in the North this Saturday

Report by Dafydd Hughes

Bangor 1876 is to lead the way in making it safe for supporters to return to North Wales football grounds.

The FAW is intending to run test events before a full return of spectators to matches in order to protect the well-being of all supporters over a longer period of time.

Following an inspection of the facilities at Treborth, and a discussion of the practicalities of staging an event, Bangor 1876 was informed that it had been successful in its response to the Association requesting that the 1876 versus Colwyn Bay friendly on 12 June (11am kick-off) be considered as an FAW Test Event.

This will be the first such event and will be followed by a number of others before there is a gradual return to spectator admittance.

A Bangor 1876 spokesperson said: “The club is greatly honoured to be chosen by the Association as a pathfinder and wishes to thank Andrew Howard and other officials of the FAW, together with our partners, Bangor University, for their assistance in making the return of fans possible.”

Unfortunately, there will be a limit of 100 on the number allowed into the ground. As a result entry will be by ticket only, price £5, on a first come first served basis.

These will be available, to fully paid-up members only, from 10am on Thursday 10 June 2021 from the club website http://www.bangor1876.com where you should click the “shop” option.
