CPD Penrhyndeudraeth continue to welcome back former players with two more ex-Cockles landing at Maes-y-Parc this week.
Manager Iwan Williams has announced the return of Iwan Lane and Richard Jones to the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division outfit.
That makes it seven players to have rejoined the club since Williams took over as boss last month.
Lane, a central midfielder who is tall, strong and very composed on the ball, signed for Nantlle Vale last June after 10 years service to Penrhyn.
He played in some very successful teams at Maes-y-Parc before deciding on a switch to Maes Dulyn.
With the 2020-21 season scrapped for teams below Tier 1 because of Covid-19, Lane never got to kick a competitive ball for Vale.
Jones, a defender renowned for his consistency, took the same path as Lane – joining Nantlle in 2020 after around 10 years with Penrhyn. He is now also back with the Cockles.
Iwan Williams said: “I’m delighted that both Iw Lane and Rich have decided to come home and commit for next season. They both know the club inside and out and have come back into pre-season in really good shape.
“They’re classed as senior players now and need to lead the youngsters which they will by driving the standards. Both are winners and I’m glad to see them back with us.”
Huw Quaeck also recently re-signed for Penrhyndeudraeth, hot on the heels of fellow returnees Adam Griffiths, Iwan Thomas, Liam Watson and Tom Hughes.
Penrhyn have also made a new signing in Dylan Sweeney.
Left-sided specialist Sweeney signed for Porthmadog last season, but the campaign never got underway for Tier 3 clubs because of the pandemic.
Penrhyn recently heard the good news that their application for Tier 3 status had been successful.
Major improvements have been carried out at Maes-y-Parc in recent months, ensuring the club meets the criteria to compete at the higher level should they get promoted in the season ahead.
