Happy 19th birthday to Erin Allen-Jones – a promising young talent in both football and rugby union.
Born on May 10, 2002, Erin Nicole Allen-Jones began her football career with Caernarfon Town, first representing their under-12 side.
She later joined CPD Merched Bethel, where her dad Lenny is one of the coaches.
Erin’s most memorable game to date in a Bethel shirt was the 2018 North Wales Girls League Cup Final against RCF Wrexham.
She played in goal and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win, both Bethel net-finders provided by Erin Maloney.
The squad that day was: Beca Williams, Erin Allen Jones, Jessica Lane, Natalie Meek, Llio Henshaw, Anest Roberts, Lowri Collins, Cara Jones, Jordan Roberts, Yasmin Williams, Jody Cain, Katie Houghton, Catrin Evans, Sophie Evans, Nel Jones & Erin Maloney.
Like many of her team-mates on that occasion, Erin has gone on to play for Bethel seniors, mainly as a defender.
She was a proud member of the squad which were joint-winners of the North Wales League Division One title in 2018-19.
Erin sees her playing strengths as physicality and ability to read the game, while admitting her ball skills need working on.
It is not just football where Erin’s talents have come to the fore.
She has also played rugby for Caernarfon and RGC Under-18’s.
Last year was a good one for Erin as she passed her driving test at the first attempt and in the CPD Merched Bethel end of season awards, she won Outstanding Individual Performance for her display in a win over Connah’s Quay.
Like everyone else involved in sport whose 2020-21 season was cancelled through Covid-19, Erin will be keen to get back to action in 2021-22, be that with a round ball or an oval one.
Today marks the start of her last year as a teenager and no doubt she will continue to work as hard as she always has.
Penblwydd hapus Erin – gobeithio gei di ddiwrnod anhygoel.
