Birthday greetings to top-rated goalkeeper Dion Lewis of Menai Bridge Tigers

Menai Bridge Tigers goalkeeper Dion Lewis celebrates his 27th birthday today.

The well-known glovesman has played for Llandegfan, Llanfairpwll, Beaumaris Town, Pentraeth, Llangoed, Arriva Bangor and the Tigers, who he returned to in summer 2019.

Born on April 4, 1994, and now in his third spell at Tigers, Dion is a very reliable shot-stopper but also comfortable with the ball at his feet.

He is also part of history, having played in the second half of Bangor 1876’s first-ever match at FC United of Manchester on July 20, 2019.

Dion produced some fine saves in a game the newly-formed visitors understandably lost heavily to opponents from a much higher level.

He decided to join Menai Bridge for a third time for 2019-20 and has established himself as one of the finest keepers in the Gwynedd League.

Dion has won a few trophies in his career, including two in 2012-13, when the Bridge beat Aberffraw in both the Megan and Elias Cup finals. These were the first competitions the club had won since reforming in 2009-10.

Former manager at Menai Bridge and now Glantraeth boss Sean Brett said: “Dion is an excellent keeper, a great shot stopper and especially very good with his feet. He is perfect at the “sweeper keeper ” role. Although much travelled he’s now settled at Menai Bridge.”

And current Tigers boss Aaron Rowlands added: “He’s been outstanding since his return to play for me at Menai Bridge. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
