CPD Pwllheli’s women’s football team have confirmed their management for next season.

Erica Jones and Andrew ‘Lefty’ Wright will lead the team in the 2021-22 campaign.

Last August, the pair were announced as taking over this season, but a ball has not been kicked with all women’s football below tier 1 cancelled due to coronavirus.

Meddai Erica: “Rwyf i a Lefty yn edrych ymlaen at y sialens newydd o weithio gyda’n gilydd a gweld y genod yn ol ar y cae.

“Mae hi wedi bod yn amser anodd i bawb fyw mewn ‘pandemic’ tros y flwyddyn dwytha, mae pawb wedi methu ei gilydd ac awyrgylch y gem.

“Mae yna gyffro yn y garfan i ail ddechrau gyda hyfforddwr newydd (Lefty) a datblyguiadau enfawr y clwb….rwyf yn edrych ymlaen gymaint i weld pawb yn ol ar y cae.”

Erica said: “Lefty and myself are looking forward to the new challenge of working together and seeing the girls back on the pitch.

“It’s been a difficult time for everyone living in a pandemic throughout the last year, everyone has missed each other and the atmosphere at games.

“There is real excitement in the squad about resuming with a new manager and huge developments at the club….we are so much looking forward to seeing everyone back on the field.”

Lefty is well known for his past long association with Amlwch Town.

He was first team manager for the men’s side for five years before stepping down in summer 2018.

During the 2017-18 season, he picked up a Welsh Alliance Manager of the Month award.

He also did great work at Lon Bach in developing the women’s team.

Erica Jones

Erica is Pwllheli through and through. Recognised as one of the best defenders in North Wales women’s football, she has spent most of her career at the Rec, but has also represented Caernarfon Town in the Welsh Premier League.

This weekend Pwllheli women are set to determine their squad for next season. They had build a strong group for 2020-21, but now need to reassess who is committed and available.
