Porthmadog Football Club appeal for donations to their flood relief fund

The devastating effect of this week’s floods on Y Traeth – picture CPD Porthmadog

As if North Wales football has not suffered enough over the past 10 months through the effects of coronavirus.

This week brought a fresh crisis for clubs hard-hit by the awful flooding across the north imposed by Storm Christoph.

Some of the most devastating damage was caused at CPD Porthmadog, where the floods have been described as the worst in living memory.

Officials say it is heartbreaking to see the destruction following the tremendous efforts that volunteers have put into upgrading facilities at Y Traeth over the last nine months.

The club has launched a JUST GIVING page to raise money to help fund all the work needed to clean up and repair the damage caused.

Any donation, big or small, will be a huge help as the club’s insurance doesn’t cover flood damage.

Club directors and volunteers thank everyone, in advance, for their kind words, support and any donations given.

Up to last night (Friday), £1,950 towards a £5,000 target had been raised.

Pike’s Newsagents in Porthmadog are also collecting donations for the club.
