The Caernarfon and Bangor areas have produced so many good young female footballers over the years and one of them turns 19 today.

Happy birthday Jordan Roberts!

Midfielder Jordan from Bangor is a quality operator who has represented Wales, North Wales and North West Wales.

She has also played at the top level of Welsh domestic football – the Welsh Premier Women’s League with Caernarfon Town.

The blonde-haired talent began her career playing for Bangor-area side City Pumas.

She later turned out for Tranmere Rovers and a variety of Caernarfon Town teams before joining a tremendous Bethel Under-16 side which won the North Wales Coast Cup.

This was an amazing squad which includes many of the current Bethel senior team including Anest Roberts, Llio Henshaw and Erin Maloney, who netted twice in the final against Wrexham RCF.

Last season saw Jordan play in a very young Caernarfon Town side which struggled in the lower reaches of North Wales Women League Division Two.

She scored three times in all – twice in an early-season 5-3 defeat at Llanberis and once in a heavy loss at champions Amlwch Town.

In an interview with Grassroots North Wales last season, Jordan listed her career highlights as being coached by Wales women’s teams manager Jayne Ludlow and playing in Dragon Park, as well as scoring the winning penalty in a cup game for Tranmere Rovers.

She regards her ability to be creative as her main playing strength, while believing her lack of height from set-pieces is a weakness.

Former team-mate at Caernarfon Town, Sara Williams, said of Jordan: “When I used to play for Caernarfon she first came to us as a young, very talented player; very fast and quick on the ball, strong player and very skillful when she received the ball.

She was very comfortable on the ball and knew straight where to put it.”

Jordan has signed for Bangor 1876 this season, but it remains to be seen whether the North Wales Women’s League will ever kick off because of Covid-19.

A huge fan of Fleetwood Mac’s music and England football star Lucy Bronze, Jordan is very passionate about the environment and has hosted ocean clean-ups.
