Anglesey football is devastated by the passing of former Bodedern, Llangefni Town and Gwalchmai manager Rob Hughes.
Grassroots North Wales has received some Bodedern FC match reports from the 2006-07 season, during which Rob became first team manager, having been appointed on November 22, 2006.
The reports were written and have been very kindly supplied by Col Smith, Bodedern secretary at the time.
This was Boded’s second season in the tier 2 Cymru Alliance. They finished ninth in 2005-06 and 14th in 2006-07.

Rob Hughes’ Bodedern outfit earned an outstanding point at Cymru Alliance leaders Flint in a match where both sides ended up with nine men.
Hughes had nearly a full squad of players for the trip to Cae-y-Castell with only young centre-forward Marc Evans unavailable due to suspension.
The first half hour was dominated by Flint with Bodedern only gaining possession for short periods.
On 37 minutes Boded goalie Gareth OJ Roberts made the first of many cracking saves from a close range header.
Midfield pressure boiled over on 40 minutes when Flint’s No 7 Darren Johnson headbutted Boded’s No 7 Gafyn Jones.
Jones retaliated and the ref dismissed both players.
Roberts made another fine save on the line to deny Flint what looked to be the opening goal.
Half time: 0-0
Just 5 minutes into the second half Flint goalkeeper Andy Hughes was sent off for handling the ball outside the area. Dean Hughes stepped in to replace the dismissed keeper.
After that ensued much end-to-end action with chances missed by both teams.
On 82 minutes Boded’s Calvin Owen was shown a straight red for dissent – nine men apiece.
Flint’s replacement goalkeeper Dean Hughes made a cracking double save to deny Corey Sinnott, firstly coming off his line to block a strike then tipping a shot destined for the top corner over the top.
Boded’s Roberts kept out a last minute attempt by Flint soon after.
Yet again Rob Hughes’ side had proved they could trouble all the higher teams in the league.
