Welsh Premier League – December 17, 2005

On this date 15 years ago Nomads cruised to their fourth Welsh Premier win on the bounce and maintained their climb away from the drop zone.

Struggling hosts Quins brought in a former Port Talbot duo in keeper Gareth Williams and defender Stephen Healey, but the new boys failed to stop the rot.

Conall Murtagh started the scoring after 20 minutes with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box, but Williams made two fine saves to prevent the Deesiders pushing further ahead.

Rasul Andul nearly grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time when he broke through only to be denied by Gary Linnard’s tackle.

Phil Molyneux increased the visitors’ lead when he cut in from the right to beat Williams and added another in the 77th minute.

In between, veteran Stuart Rain scored for Nomads, but Quins grabbed a late consolation from Omar Abdillahi, who converted from the penalty spot.

Nomads: Paul Smith, Gary Linnard (Stuart Cook), Chris Williams, Alan Morgan, Gary Pinch, Danny Jellicoe, Ben Heath, Connall Murtagh, Phil Molyneux (Stuart Rain), Martin Robinson, Ryan Crawford.
