Prestatyn Town chairman is invited to face questions from disgruntled fans

Prestatyn Town chairman Jamie Welsh has been invited to face fans’ questions on the latest happenings at the club.

Many Seasiders supporters have been up in arms following the recent departure of popular manager Neil Gibson and virtually the entire 2019-20 Cymru North title-winning squad.

Welsh has since appointed a new management team led by Merseyside-based former TNS and Colwyn Bay player John Lawless.

There is also anger among supporters over the resignation of numerous key figures within the club’s successful academy.

Last week saw some unsavoury exchanges on social media between the club and fans.

Following this, supporters have sent Welsh some leading questions on the future of the Seasiders.

A PTFC statement said: “Thank you to all the fans that submitted questions, we have now submitted them to the chairman this afternoon.

“On Tuesday night 7pm we will be holding a fans meeting via Zoom.

“We would like to invite all genuine Town fans to the meeting so we can make sense of the last two weeks and discuss the future and the way forward.

“Nearer the time we will send out details on how to attend the Zoom meeting along with an agenda of the night, so in the meantime please download Zoom on your laptop or tablet in preparation for the meeting.”

Some of the questions already submitted include (some others not included here are probably best left for the night)

What are the plans for the current season?
What are the long-term plans for the club?
What is the explanation behind the reason why the manager and the players had to leave?
What are the plans to improve the communication with the fans? Most of us don’t even know who you are.
How much debt is the football club in?
Why did you feel you had to accept the resignation of Neil Gibson?
Why Prestatyn Town? Why pick us?
With all the resignations in the Academy, what is the future of it, will it still have the same pathway to our first team with local footballers?
Would you be open to resigning and letting the fans take over?
Do you feel you have lost the support of the fans?

The club was asked whether Welsh would attend the meeting. The response was: “I believe the chairman will be made aware of this situation.”

Welsh did invite fans to face-to-face meetings at the club last Thursday under Covid-19 restriction conditions, but it is believed the take-up rate was minimal.
