Flashback – five years ago: Lewis hits four as Holywell bang in seven at Mold

Mold Alexandra 2 (Laird, Mullen)
Holywell Town 7 (Littler, Cotton, Lewis 4, Drazdauskas)
Cymru Alliance League – Oct 10, 2015

Steve Lewis scored four times – including a nine-minute hat-trick – for a Holywell side which romped to victory at Alyn Park five years ago this weekend.

Town took the lead as early as the seventh minute. A great ball into the box by Steve Thomas found Connor Littler, who controlled and slid his shot past Christopher Leigh in the Mold goal.

The visitors did not have too long to wait for a second goal, scored by Brett Cotton.

Josh Roberts sent over a great corner, Dafydd Griffith was at the far post and headed back across the face of goal where Cotton was on hand to knock the ball over the line.

Mold were then reduced to 10 men as John Macauliffe was sent off for a high challenge on Lewis.

However, shortly afterwards, the home side reduced the arrears, as Jack Laird broke clear down the right, cut inside and shot beyond Mike Platt to make it 2-1.

The next nine minutes belonged to Lewis, as he notched up a hat-trick to put the Wellmen well in control.

The first goal came on 24 minutes, Josh Roberts with a long ball to Lewis, who controlled well and rounded the keeper to tap home.

In the 31st minute, a ball over the top again by Roberts saw Lewis aware the oncoming keeper was off his line and his cheeky lob over Leigh made it 4-1.

Lewis completed his treble on 36 minutes. Ryan Davidson won the ball back, found Littler on the edge of the area and he picked out Lewis, whose firm strike went in via the post.

Half-time: Mold Alex 1 Holywell Town 5.

Ten minutes into the second half, Town increased their lead and again, it was Lewis on target.

Steve Thomas delivered a great ball through for Lewis to chase. The striker controlled before shooting past the oncoming Leigh.

Four for the player nicknamed The Beast!

Mold had a good spell of pressure in the latter stages and on the stroke of the 90 minutes, Gerrard Mullen beat the offside trap and drilled past Platt.

Not to be outdone, Holywell added a seventh goal deep into injury time through Danny Drazdauskas.

Lewis lobbed a defender, Drazdauskas reacted the quickest and controlled before firing home from a tight angle, much to the delight of the Holywell supporters behind the goal.
