Champions Connah’s Quay Nomads and high-flyers Bala Town both romped to big away victories in the JD Cymru Premier League this weekend.

Nomads were in ruthless form in a 4-1 win at promoted Haverfordwest County.

Craig Curran put Andy Morrison’s side ahead on 12 minutes, but Sean Pemberton brought the hosts level before half time.

Curran made it 2-1 on 53 minutes and Aeron Edwards soon added a third.

Declan Poole made ultra-sure of the points with a 73rd-minute strike.

Last season’s Golden Boot winner and league player of the season Chris Venables grabbed a double in Bala’s 5-1 triumph at Penybont.

It was a game of two halves, with the home side leading at the break through Lewis Harling’s ninth-minute effort.

However, the 29th minute dismissal of Kane Owen for a foul on Kieran Smith meant Rhys Griffiths’ men would face an uphill task in the second half.

Town levelled on 47 minutes when an Ollie Shannon shot was diverted in by Will Evans.

It was Evans again after 56 minutes when he capitalised on Raul Correia and Venables’ good work.

Evans turned provider on 62 minutes when he set up Venables for his first.

And it was Venables from the spot on 72 minutes, the penalty given for a foul on Evans.

Kieran Smith notched a fifth to seal an emphatic win for the Lakesiders who temporarily went top of the table.

Flint Town United were beaten 1-0 at home by Barry Town United, Kayne McLaggon with the only goal from the penalty spot in the second half.

Cefn Druids chalked up their first point of the season after a 1-1 home split with Cardiff Met University.

Jamie Reed edged the Ancients in front on 17, but Liam Warman equalised after 52.

The New Saints returned to the summit on Sunday after a 4-0 success at Caernarfon Town.

It was goalless at half time, but Saints upped the ante after the break, Louis Robles (2), Dean Ebbe and Ben Clark sharing the goals.

Newtown and Aberystwyth Town shared a 1-1 outcome on Friday night.
