Denbigh Town Ladies name their new manager

Jordan Baker has been named as the new Denbigh Town Ladies manager.

Jordan, 23, originally from the Channel Islands, lives with his young family at Prestatyn.

He is 6ft 4in and a former semi professional keeper with Guernsey FC who now plays in goal for Rhuddlan Town.

Baker has been coaching at Rhyl FC girls for the past couple of years.

He is keen to progress as a coach and as well as having the Football Leaders award, FAW first aid award, FAW Safeguarding Award and an enhanced CRB check he is working hard towards his C coaching licence.

Jordan has some big boots to fill after John Clayton takes a back seat but the club is confident they have made the right choice.

“Despite his relative young age for such a role he has shown maturity throughout the selection process and comes across as a sensible, enthusiastic, ambitious, can do sort of person,” said a club spokesperson.

After accepting the role Jordan said: “I am sorry to be leaving Rhyl Girls but taking this job is a step up for me. After applying for the role and speaking to various people from the club I was more than happy to accept after I had been told I was successful.

“I am very excited and looking forward to our journey with Denbigh Town Ladies. I aim to get to know everyone as quickly as I can and want to get the team firing on all cylinders.

“I intend to give young players every opportunity to show what they can do as well as the established members of the squad and look forward to working with everyone.”

Jordan added: “I will make contact with the players as soon as I can and soon as the current lockdown rules allow I intend to start training.

“I will also bring in other people to help with the coaching and am confident that we will have a good set up in place for the new season.”

Jordan replaces John Clayton, who started the team in 2008 and won the Betty Pickering Cup in 2013-14 and North Wales League title in 2014-15, as well as leading the team to the Welsh Cup semi-finals in 2015-16.
