North East Wales League: Chirk Town edge out Brymbo Victoria for title

Chirk Town have been crowned champions at the first attempt

Chirk Town have marked their first season as a club by scooping the Top Mark Uniforms North East Wales League title.

After going nine unbeaten, the Taverners suffered narrow losses to Sychdyn and Borras Park Albion, but their final P-P-G of 2.285 was just enough to ensure they finished champions ahead of runners-up Brymbo Victoria, whose 33 points from 15 outings was not quite enough (2.2).

Chirk kicked off the campaign with a 15-0 away annihilation of Belle Vue and then produced enough consistency to claim top spot.

Former Gresford Athletic player Tom Freeman led the way for the champions with 17 league goals.
