Nomads chief delighted over Cymru Premier title victory

Connah’s Quay Nomads owner Gary Dewhurst has expressed his delight following confirmation that the Deesiders have been declared Cymru Premier champions for the first time.

The FAW have today announced the end of all domestic football in Wales due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

All divisions will be settled by points per game method and promotion and relegation issues finalised “in due course”.

This means the Nomads, who were four points clear of The New Saints at the Cymru Premier summit with six games apiece remaining, are crowned champions, ending TNS’s hopes of a ninth successive title.

Mr Dewhurst said earlier: “In the last hour, we have been informed by the FAW that Connah’s Quay Nomads have been awarded the Cymru Premier League title.

“This marks a momentous occasion in the long history of the Nomads and obviously the highlight of my 12 year involvement.

“I want to put on record my sincere thanks to all the volunteers, officials, coaching staff and entire playing squad who’ve made this possible – and a special thanks to Andy Morrison, for giving everyone belief that we could challenge the TNS dynasty.

“Tonight is a time to enjoy a few beers and reflect on the hard graft, on and off the field that makes this club special.”
