The North Wales Women’s Football League boasts some stunning teenage talent.
My belief is our best team of players aged 18 or under would give many, many similar sides across the UK a major test.
Here’s my North Wales Under-18 (players aged 18 qualify) Dream Team
Last season she was in goal when Penrhyn Bay won the Under-16 FAW Welsh Cup Final.
This term she has made the step-up to women’s football with the Bay and has been performing very well in a much-improved team.
Beca has been outstanding since stepping up to the Bethel women’s team this season.
She can operate at either left or right-back and her strength and passing ability makes her stand out.
Has represented North Wales and been on standby for the Wales Under-16 squad.
The youngest of three sisters currently playing for Rhyl-based NFA, Jess has produced consistently good performances in her first senior season.
Her speed and ability to take players on, plus her ball control under pressure has really impressed manager Andy Lloyd.
One of the finds of the season, her calmness and strength in defence oozes a maturity way beyond her years.
Great attitude to the game, she reads the play so well and one can only see her progressing to a really high standard in her career.
Player of the year last season, Llio has come along in leaps and bounds for North Wales Division One reigning joint champions Bethel.
Like her close friend Beca Williams she came up through the ranks playing for what were predominantly boys teams at Penrhyndeudraeth.
Pacy, powerful, strong and is good with both feet. Star of the future.
Anest usually plays at centre back for Bethel, but such are her skills on the ball and eagerness to advance forward, I’d be more than happy playing her in the midfield.
A real asset in attack at set-pieces, she also strikes a mean free kick. One of the true stars to emerge through the Bethel junior set-up.
Goalscoring midfielder who was a key player in Penrhyn Bay Under-16s Welsh Cup final win last season.
Had adapted to the senior game very well. Possesses a superb midfield engine and uses the ball really well. Also scores goals, expert penalty-taker and free kick specialist. Has also represented Wales at youth level.
Tall midfielder who despite her young age has already played in the Welsh Premier League for Caernarfon Town.
Joined Llanberis this season and is doing a great job in central midfield, having already scored some goals, including a couple of cracking free-kicks.
Top-scorer in the league this season with 21 goals in all competitions, already passing the 20 she netted for the first team in 2018/19.
Remarkable talent who has also competed as a sprinter in the Island Games. She would be the main source of goals in this team.
Playing in a developing team which is yet to get a point, but despite this Caitlin has produced a series of outstanding performances.
Hard-working, always on the go, in a team of this standard she would fit like a glove.
Of all the players in this team, she is the probably the one the Wales manager should be looking at the most.
Speedy, skillful and a genuine goalscorer, Catrin has netted 14 this season for Division Two leaders Amlwch, having bagged 18 in 12 matches as a 16-year-old for Division One joint champions Bethel last term.
I’m allowed one sub, and after all I might need to bring in a replacement if one of these players is unable to take part! My choice….
Is coming along really well.
Was with Bethesda’s Division Two title-winning side last season and now is looking to get a regular spot in the Bethel team.
Angharad, who lives and breathes football, was also in the Ynys Mon squad which got to the final of the Inter-Island Games last summer.
Who would be the ideal management team to get the maximum out of these girls?
Current manager of NFA and he helped guide Prestatyn Girls to Welsh Cup Final glory in 2014/15.
He rated that side as the best under-16 team ever in Wales and I wouldn’t argue with him.
Andy’s a great motivator, he talks TO the players not AT them.
I think Aaron’s experience working alongside Ben Bolton at Bethel would make him the ideal assistant for Andy.
As he knows a lot of the girls well, he would contribute a lot to team spirit.
