Tonight could bring a very special milestone in the career of Caernarfon Town footballer Nathan Craig.
If selected, the 28-year-old is set to make a 200th competitive appearance for the Canaries when they take on Newtown at The Oval in the JD Cymru Premier Championship Conference (kick-off 7.45 pm).
Ahead of the game, the former Everton and Torquay United player, capped at U-21 level by Wales, chose his three favourite matches for the Cofis over two spells at the club.
He told Grassroots North Wales editor Dave Jones, who has included Nathan in his All-Time Cymru Alliance XI and All-Time Football XI:
2-0 win v Barry Town (2017-18 Welsh Cup). Where I scored the long range free kick. We were underdogs from league below.
2-1 win v Bangor City away in the Welsh Cup (2018-19). The rivalry, the atmosphere was just special and to do it in front of 1,000+ Cofis was unbelievable!
1-0 win away to TNS last season. Always a tough team to play against and to go to their place and get all three points, a clean sheet and score the winning goal four minutes from time was very special.
A dynamic attacking left-back or midfielder with a penchant for scoring spectacular goals from set-pieces, Nathan joined Everton aged 12 and progressed through the ranks, becoming a reserves regular and full-time pro.
He made his competitive first-team debut versus BATE Borisov of Belarus on December 17, 2009 in the UEFA Europa League.
After being released by Everton in summer 2011, he joined hometown club Caernarfon Town, making 17 appearances and scoring five goals for a team then in the Welsh Alliance.
Nathan again turned professional at Torquay United in 2012 and went on to make 47 appearances for the Plainmoor outfit.
Following the club’s relegation to the Conference in May 2014, Nathan, along with seven other team-mates, was placed on the transfer list.
In June 2014, following the player’s request, his contract was mutually terminated.
He went on loan to Dorchester Town before returning to Caernarfon to take up the new post of Football in the Community Director and re-signing for the club.
In 2014/15, he netted three goals in 19 games for the Canaries, then in 2015/16 notched 16 in 35 as Town won the Huws Gray Alliance title.
The 2016/17 campaign brought 19 goals in 37 matches, then in 2017-18, as the Cofis scooped the HGA crown again, the former international scored 21 times in 34 outings.
Town were back in the Welsh Premier last term and Craig bagged himself 14 goals and made the Team of the Season subs bench. He has collected four goals so far this season.
To date, he has made 199 competitive appearances in a Caernarfon shirt and chalked up 85 goals.
This evening promises to be a very special occasion at The Oval for this hugely popular player as he reaches the big 200 – if selected.
Before the game, Nathan will take to the field with son Mabon, who is three, and also his nephew Cian, aged seven.
