Netball: Big wins for Bay sides in North West Wales Division One

Llandudno Storm won tonight’s cracking derby against Blazers

Kicking off the final leg of the season in the North West Wales Netball League with only a handful of weeks to go in Division One, it was a good night for Colwyn Bay.

Colwyn Friendship and Colwyn Comets recorded a couple of fantastic wins against Llandudno Jets and Abergele Aces respectively.

The scores certainly didn’t reflect the effort put in by the two losing sides though. Both gave 110% right the way to the final whistle.

In Division Two, Llandudno teams Blazers and Storm met in a town derby.

After the first quarter it was neck and neck at seven-apiece. Goal for goal again in the second and at the midway stage Blazers held a narrow 16-15 lead.

Storm held their own in the third and with yet another goal for goal session they edged their way back in front 26-25.

It was all to play for in the last and although both teams scored the most they had mustered in any quarter it was Storm who surged ahead to win 45-36.

The Goal Attacks of both teams shone brightest with their sharp shooting skills.

While the Aces couldn’t quite overcome the power of Comets in Division One this evening, the Diamonds of Abergele certainly did the club proud against Colwyn Youth in Division Three.

With a phenomenal win of 39-9 they really dominated the game from start to finish. Colwyn Youth though, never lost hope and fought hard up until the very end.

Well done to their WD Katie Jones, who proved she was well worth her title as PoM with a great performance.
