Pre-match read: Previewing 5 of today’s best games in North Wales

Prestatyn Town v Flint Town United
Cymru North – Sat 2.30 pm

Undoubtedly the game of the weekend, although the awful weather may prevent it being a spectacle.
Prestatyn are unbeaten in nine in the league (seven wins, two draws) and lead the Cymru North by 13 points.
Second-place Flint have two games in hand on the Seasiders, so a win for them today could put them right back in the title race.
The Silkmen are undefeated in their last six in all competitions.
The reverse clash between these two at the Essity Stadium last October ended 3-2 to Prestatyn.
Today’s game is a prelude to next weekend’s meeting of this pair in the Welsh Cup quarter-finals at the Essity.
Thrilling times for both clubs!

Llanrwst Utd v Holyhead Hotspur (now at Holyhead)
Mawddach Challenge Cup round two (2.30 pm)

This tie has been switched to the New Stadium, Holyhead.
A cracker on the cards, with Hotspur having beaten the Rwsters in two cups already this term – 5-4 in both the Cookson Cup and FAW Trophy – but in the league, the Conwy Valley side whipped the Holy Islanders 5-1.

FC Queen’s Park v Holywell Town
Welsh National League Premier Division 2 pm

The Wellmen will aim to extend their season-long unbeaten record in the league to 15 games and know a point at The Dunks will be enough to return them to the Premier summit on goal difference.
Holywell beat the Park 4-0 at Halkyn Road three weeks ago. A brace of goals by Alec Williams and Luke Edwards sealed the points in what was a great performance by the Wellmen.
However, Queen’s Park were reduced to 9 men in that game which did hamper them and a different match is expected by the visitors today.
Holywell manager John Haseldin will announce his side just before kick off but has reported no new injury concerns ahead of the trip to Wrexham. He does welcome back Jacob Wise from suspension and he has been added to the squad. Town’s defence will have to be on top form to thwart Queens Park’s top scorer Barry Torrence, who has scored 19 league goals this season.

Nefyn United v Llysfaen
NWCFA Junior Cup third round 1.30 pm

Quite a romantic tie this one, as a Nefyn side going all out to win the Junior Cup in memory of their late and great secretary Eifion Parry meets one of North Wales’ most prolific teams of 2019-20 in Llysfaen.
Although today’s visitors are a rung below the Penwaig on the pyramid, they are one of just two remaining teams in North Wales undefeated in all competitions – a magnificent run of 16 games.
Gwynedd League hosts Nefyn are the favourites, but Emlyn Robert Jones’ side have not just travelled all the way to the Llyn Peninsula for a nice day out.

Bro Cernyw v Llanfairfechan Town
Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division – 1.30 pm

The only game to survive the weather in this league today and what a corker it could be.
Bro are third in the table and Llanfair fourth, with just a point between them. Town have played two games less than Cernyw.
Hard one to call, Llanfair have had a couple of slip-ups lately and Bro are more than capable of adding to the visitors’ woes, but Andrew Croston’s side is packed with talent and can never be ruled out.
