Mountain Rangers edged back up to second in the Anglesey League after making it 11 matches unbeaten with a 2-0 victory at CPD Y Fali.
Rangers started brightly with top-scorer Sam Williams going close in the opening minutes.
Midway through the first half Williams wriggled his way into the box only for a Fali defender to bring him down.
Up stepped Rangers skipper Simon Kay to calmly side-foot home the resulting penalty.
Despite edging possession the Rhosgadfan outfit could not increase their tally and the score remained 1-0 at half time.
Once again in the second half both defences were in no mood for generosity with the Fali captain marshalling his back four and Rangers man of the match David Aaron Jones in fine form.
In the closing stages Fali threw everything forward but Rangers, with the tightest defensive record in the league, held strong.
Into the dying minutes and a fantastic corner saw several Fali players fail to make contact and when a defensive header from Kay found Aled Steele just inside his own half, the pacey forward left several defenders behind before rounding the home keeper to secure the points.
Alex Philp’s side are six points behind leaders Cemaes Bay but have three games in hand.
Elsewhere in the league, Owain Davies scored the only goal as Llanfairpwll pipped Llandegfan 1-0 at Maes Eilian.
CPD Cefni climbed off the bottom with a 3-1 victory at Holyhead Town.
Recently deducted 18 points, Cefni are now back in credit thanks to a Ben Wright double and Henry Caldecott goal. Jason Rowlands replied for the Harbourmen.
Arriva Bangor edged past Pentraeth Reserves 3-2, Scott Hughes, Wisdom Janes and Dion Williams netting for the home side, Luke Gardner and an own goal edging the visitors close.
On Friday night, Holyhead Hotspur Reserves’ brilliant season continued with a 2-1 beating of Cemaes Bay in the Bwlch Car Boot Trophy.
Curt Williams (2, 1 pen) was the Hotspur hero, Steven Whittaker on the mark for Cemaes with his 33rd goal of the campaign.
