NEWFA Challenge Cup quarter-final

Record nine-times NEWFA Challenge Cup winners Buckley advanced to the semi-finals of this season’s competition at the expense of holders Druids.

Cymru Premier hosts Cefn played a mixture of youth and experienced players, but it was the Cymru North visitors who emerged victorious at The Rock thanks to two goals from Connor Littler.

The first half started at fast pace with both teams contesting control of the middle of the pitch.

On nine minutes Buckley hit a shot on target, the Druids goalkeeper failed to punch clear and Littler swept the ball into the back of the net.

The second half saw a number of substitutions by both sides. With Buckley winning most second balls they were able to maintain possession and create a number of chances.

On 57 minutes, after a move of eight passes, a delivery into the box saw Littler secure his second goal of the game.

With 10 minutes to go, Druids had a excellent opportunity to claw back a goal but failed to convert.

In the closing stages, Bucks missed two chances to put the tie totally out of sight.

Buckley: Joe Makaruk, Luke Blizard, Dylan Roberts, Lewis Cunliffe, Callum Humphries, Lewis Hone, Aron Williams, Joshua Jones, Connor Littler, Keiron Moore, Sam Spridgeon. Subs: Rhys Hewitt, Aled Bellis, Jake Roberts.
