North Wales Coast Women’s Recreational League: Scorers have combined age of 108! Blaenau, Mochdre and Valkyries triumph!

NORTH WALES COAST WOMEN’S RECREATION LEAGUE – MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2

Prestatyn Athletic Dragonhearts 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1

The two goalscorers in this Monday night clash had a combined age of 108!
Fantastic stuff which proves recreational football is there for all and age is never a barrier.
Cath Thornton gave Penmaenmawr an 11th minute lead from a Jess Roberts assist.
Dragonhearts levelled on 36 through captain Julie Green, Rhian Hughes this time the supplier.

Here is Penmaenmawr’s report on the game…..

Our Phoenix ladies made the trip to Prestatyn Dragonhearts on Monday evening for another lovely night of recreational football under the lights.
We started the game brightly, with Cath Thornton finding the back of the net after just 11 minutes, giving us an early lead!
There were some great performances across the pitch, with Elizabeth Lunn and Jess Roberts particularly impressive down the left, showing fantastic pace, determination and a few bursts of acceleration that left the rest of us wishing we had their energy!
Prestatyn came back fighting in the second half, with their number 9 Julie Green breaking through to score a well-taken equaliser, bringing the game level at 1–1.
One of our favourite moments came afterwards when we realised that the combined age of the two goalscorers was an incredible 108 years!
If ever there was proof that football has no age limit, this was it! The legs might need a little longer to recover these days, but the passion, determination and love of the game are as strong as ever!
And that’s what we love most about recreational football.
A big thank you to Prestatyn Dragonhearts for a lovely, competitive game played in great spirits. We wish you all the very best for the rest of the season.

Eglwysbach Queen Bees 0 Mochdre Lionesses 1

Bethan Smith scored the 41st minute goal from a Charlotte Thomas assist which earned Mochdre three hard-earned points.
It was a second league victory in succession for the Lionesses.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 4 CPD Merched Llanrwst Unedig 0

Ellen Wynne-Jones led the way with a double in this home triumph for Blaenau.
Alaw Hughes and Kelly Evans were also on target for the home side.

Llandudno Valkyries 3 Colwyn Bay 0

Goals from Azita Ahari, Jennifer Davies and Carly Andrews secured the win which sent Bay tumbling to their first-ever defeat after a 34-match unbeaten run stretching back for more than two seasons.
This match was reported on in full by Grassroots North Wales last night.
