Prestatyn Town manager Neil Gibson insists his team must improve on their performance in Saturday’s narrow win over Rhyl if they are to pick up any reward from Colwyn Bay today (Wednesday, New Year’s Day, 2.30 pm kick-off).
Town maintained their seven-point lead at the Cymru North summit thanks to Danny Davies’ seventh-minute goal in a 1-0 success over their Denbighshire rivals.
Almost 1,000 spectators witnessed what was a dour, physical encounter overall at the Motion Finance Stadium, and Gibson will demand better at Llanelian Road against a Bay outfit lying third in the table.
Prestatyn won 3-1 at home to the Seagulls back in September.
“Wednesday’s a tough game,” said Gibson. “Colwyn Bay are a very good team. If we’re not at our best, or if we play anything like we did on Saturday, we won’t win on Wednesday.
“We were extremely disappointing (against Rhyl). We’ve set ourselves high standards this season and fell well short of them.”
