Porthmadog marked their return to rugby union with a victory when they welcomed Bala to Clwb Clic after a two-year hiatus since having a home game.
Bala turned up with a depleted squad but the good relationship that has developed between both clubs and the fact Port had an extra large number of bodies meant the game went ahead with the Lakesiders borrowing players for both halves.
The game started with Porthmadog dominating and Ben Humphreys made a 50-metre run, beating five defenders before crashing over for a try within the first few minutes.
The game then evened out with some good tackling from both sides, but Bala took the advantage and went in half time 14-7 up.
After a few replacements Porthmadog took the initiative with another try for Ben Humphreys and a sublime solo touchdown for stalwart Ciron Price, with Wayne Humphreys also crossing for the home side.
Bala responded with a third try before Dion Humphreys crossed the whitewash for a decisive score.
Tomos Hughes converted four tries to take his personal tally to eight.
Bala were six points behind at the last play when the ball was kicked to full-back Dylan Elfyn, who booted it out of touch to celebrate a first win of the season for a returning Porthmadog side by 33 points to 27.
Congratulations to Ben Humphreys for getting another man of the match. Ben’s brothers Cafan, Wayne and Dion also played. The four make up a well-known boxing team in the town.
It was good to see returning faces playing and a decent crowd to welcome the home team back after a break.
Porthmadog will next face Abergele seconds away next Saturday.
Porthmadog RFC thanks everyone involved behind the scenes for their hard work in re-establishing the team.
