Netball: Dyffryn win Division One thriller, victories for Pwllheli, Arfon and Arran
Pwllheli enjoyed a fine win over a spirited Dreigiau Brynrefs

Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter Netball League Division One – reports and results for November 6, 2019

Pwllheli kicked off the night with a 27-13 win over Dreigiau Brynrefs.

Although Pwll were in control from the start the scoreline does not reflect the game at all. There were flying interceptions throughout and it was the amazing Pwllheli defensive work in the circle that prevented the outcome being any closer.

Dreigiau kept on fighting until the final whistle. Their work ethic for such a young team is fantastic, but a convincing win for Pwllheli.

Arfon Ladies triumphed 32-18 against Tim o Walis.

Arfon set their stall out in the first quarter, establishing an 8-4 lead, while Walis took a little time to settle.

The second quarter was an even affair after Arfon squandered a few turnovers to give possession back to Walis and they capitalised with some good shooting. The second half saw a more dominant Arfon Ladies.

Arran were always in command in a 29-11 win against Porthmadog. Both teams were missing some of their usual players but Arran were consistent throughout despite a spirited performance by Port.

Last match of the night was a corker between Penygroes Primos and Dreigiau Dyffryn Ladies.

Dyffryn edged both first quarters while Primos struggled to get any rhythm going with Dreigiau leading 13-9 at the halfway stage.

Both teams know how to grind out a match though and Primos cut the deficit in the third quarter to one goal despite having to make a substitution after GK Rhiannon Thomas was injured.

The final quarter was the tidiest of them all with both teams slowing the game down to keep possession of the ball.

Despite the pressure by Primos, Dyffryn held on to win this local derby by a single goal at 24-23.
