Running: Mark Davies caps brilliant season with double podium finish

Mark Davies ended the fell running season with two prestigious awards

Top fell runner Mark Davies capped a brilliant season to finish third overall in the WFRA Welsh Championship series of races, and was also the first MV40 age category winner.

The North Wales Road Runners Club athlete confirmed his consistent form in the final race of the season last weekend at Breidden Hill, Criggion, near Welshpool, to finish 10th overall, and 3rd MV40 cat, which ensured he clinched a prestigious podium finish, and deservedly won two incredible series awards.

His NWRRC teenage colleague Troy Kettle also continued his promising form in the same event to finish well in 39.14.

On this occasion, Martin represented his second claim club Wrexham, whilst Troy turned out for his second claim club Prestatyn.

EINDHOVEN HALF-MARATHON

MANCHESTER HALF-MARATHON

Kelly Alford and Cai Roberts

Three North Wales athletes joined in with 11,291 runners during the popular Manchester Half Marathon last Sunday, and they each celebrated good results despite competing in tough endurance runs the previous weekend.

PARKRUN ROUND UP

HAGA, SWEDEN

North Wales Road Runners Rory Middleton and Mark Jessett travelled to Haga in Sweden last weekend to take part in their local Parkrun among 84 runners and completed another successful one-two by finishing in the 2nd and 3rd positions overall.

Rory was just over a minute behind the eventual race winner, and just five seconds separated the Welsh duo. Rory was 1st SM25 cat in 18.33, and Mark 1st SM30 cat in 18.38.

HANLEY, STOKE

Helen Hannam with her brothers at the Hanley Parkrun

Helen Hannam ran with some of her brothers in the Hanley Parkrun last Saturday to celebrate their mother’s 70th birthday.

Helen ran well as 6th female in 26.11, and won her age category, whilst brother Josh Woodstock proved running must be in the blood by winning the event, and claimed a great new PB in 19.06.

CONWY

Six club members competed in the Conwy Parkrun among 311 runners.

Iwan Evans continued his return to form in 8th place in 19.04, and was also 1st MV45 cat winner.
