With the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division’s top three all in NWCFA Junior Cup action, fourth-place Llanfairfechan Town closed the gap with a 3-0 home win over Meliden.

James Cory (2) and Jacob Fraser secured a comfortable victory for Andrew Croston’s side at The Rec.

Llanfair have won four of their first five league matches of the campaign.

Cerrigydrudion were also 3-0 winners, beating Rhos United by that margin thanks to goals from Tirion Griffiths (pen), Nidian Jones and Dion Lloyd in the first half.

NFA made it a magnificent seven wins out of seven in Division One after seeing off Llanfairfechan Town Reserves 7-3 at Rhyl High School.

Six of the home team’s goals came in the second half. Daniel Williams (3), Mathew Williams, Paul Jones, Josh Evans and Morgan Jones shared the haul, Elliot Croston (2) and Ryan Pope replying.

After the joys of picking up their first win the previous weekend, Rhyl All Stars were unable to build on that as they perished 14-1 at unbeaten Llysfaen.

Nathan Russell (3), Jordan Russell, Jake Reynolds (2), Reece Kearney, Callum Ellis, Henry Taylor (2), Sean Sheridan, James Fallas (2) and Alec Jones produced the goods for Emlyn Robert Jones’ side, Lee Dudley with a consolation for the visitors.

Denbigh Development and Henllan drew 2-2 in a true local derby. Liam Davies and Owen Roberts netted in the first half for Denbigh, but Joel Rowlands and Alfie Harrison hit back after the break for the visiting side.
