Caernarfon Town 1 Penrhyn Bay 7
Penrhyn Bay recorded their first-ever victory in the North Wales Women’s League in some style with a 7-1 away thrashing of Caernarfon Town.
Last season saw Bay go through the entire campaign without picking up a point in Division Two, suffering 12 defeats and conceding 119 goals with a very young and inexperienced side. But they kept battling and never gave up.
This term things have changed, with Ian Morgan’s side made up of many of last season’s Under-16 Welsh Cup winning team, as well as additional experienced signings.
Although they lost their opening two games of the current campaign, results and performances were vastly-improved, and today’s win at Caernarfon was the icing on the cake.
Molly Watkinson, who had a spell at Welsh Premier League side Llandudno last season, scored a hat-trick, while Mia Rawling, a key midfielder in that Welsh Cup winning team, netted twice.
Hannah Smith and Hannah Jones added singles for the impressive visitors, while Caernarfon replied with an own goal. This season will be very much a development and learning process for a very young Cofis squad.
Penrhyn Bay line-up: Lucy Roberts, Elan Morgan, Elen Vaughan, Ella Miliziano, Carly Andrews, Gemma Hardman, Mia Rawling, Hannah Smith, Hannah Jones, Molly Watkinson, Ffion Evans. Subs: Charlie Badman, Bethan Vaughan.
Mountain Rangers 9 Llanberis 0
Captain Elena Julio notched a hat-trick inside the first 17 minutes before sadly being forced off injured for a rampant Mountain Rangers.
Katie Bowe struck twice for the home side to bring her total to nine in two matches, while Danielle Barnfield also netted her first two goals for the team.
Sara Williams and Siwan Williams completed the rout for Rangers, who have now scored 23 goals in their first two outings.

Bethel 3 Airbus 2
A close-fought win for Bethel who were given a big test by an ever-improving Airbus side.
Erin Maloney struck first for Ben Bolton’s team before a long kick from goalkeeper Sions Hughes-Williams ended up in the Airbus net via a deflection off a defender.
The Wingmakers pulled one back before the break when Sian Smith fought her way past two defenders and the keeper to score.
Ffion Williams made it 3-1 to the hosts after the interval, but the visitors stayed in the contest when Tegan Hewitt reduced the arrears.
Despite the defeat, Airbus manager Mari Edwards was pleased with the performance, especially with the team missing top-scorer Becky Lees and captain Abby Williams.
Mari said: “I think we’ve improved every game and now we are getting closer to the team we were two seasons ago. We lost 8-0 against Bethel last season, so for me it feels like a win today.”
Denbigh Town 9 Northop Hall 0
Former Welsh Premier striker Rosie Hughes showed she has lost none of her magic with a four-goal salvo for Denbigh at Myddleton College today.
Rosie is one of the leading goalscorers in Llandudno Ladies FC’s history (she might well be the highest – no complete records available) and her quadruple today for Town was proof of what she is always capable of.
Lexie Smith added a pair for the hosts, while Gwawr Williams, Emma Roden and Maria Laffey also found the net.
Rhyl 4 Wrexham 0
Rhyl’s fantastic start to the campaign continued as they made it back-to-back wins at the expense of an off-form Wrexham.
Ceri Purvis struck twice for the home side, Catrin Davies and Charley Skeffington also on the mark for the Lilywhites.
