Llandudno’s season got off to a perfect start as Jordanne Greenough’s 40th minute goal was enough to secure three points at Old Road.

Now North Wales’ sole representative in the Welsh Premier Women’s League, it is more vital than ever for Tudno to make an impact in the top flight, and a victory down south on the opening day is the way to do it.

Llandudno also maintained their unbeaten league record against Ferry which now stands at four wins and a draw.

Greenough broke the deadlock when she latched onto a Stacey Tradewell throw and lobbed the keeper from 20 yards.

The visitors in general made hard work of their assignment, however they were without some key players and only travelled with one substitute, which always makes life that bit more difficult.

Player of the match for Sarah Colville’s side was Cat Jones, who put in her usual 100% effort.

“We didn’t make it easy for ourselves, but it makes the long-distance journey all worth it when you can come home with three points,” said manager Colville.

Llandudno are in League Cup action next Sunday when they entertain Cardiff City FC Women.

Rest of the Welsh Premier

Reigning champions Cardiff Metropolitan lost their opening game of the season 1-0 at home to Swansea City.

Stacey John-Davis notched the only goal on 66 minutes.

Cardiff City came away from Abergavenny 3-0 victors, Danielle Green, Siobhan Walsh and Alana Murs all on target.

Bethan McGowan’s fifth-minute goal was enough for Port Talbot Town to edge a 1-0 success against Cyncoed.
