Cymru North: Prestatyn beat Bay, Flint see off Port and Llanrhaeadr defeat Rhyl

Prestatyn Town remain top of the JD Cymru North table on goal difference after a 3-1 home win against Colwyn Bay.

The Seasiders took a 14th minute lead when Alex Jones’ delivery over the Bay defence found Jack Kenny, who lobbed keeper Andy Coughlin.

Just a minute later it was 2-0, Robbie Hughes picking out Jones, who twisted and turned smartly before firing low past Coughlin.

Bay replied on the half-hour when a penalty was given for alleged handball against Kai Edwards and Tom McCready scored from the spot.

Kenny and Jordan Davies missed good opportunities for the hosts before the break, then early in the second half Coughlin produced a great stop to thwart Kenny.

Former Wrexham glovesman Coughlin denied Davies before James Stead’s shot came back off the post and into the arms of the grateful keeper.

Jones grabbed his second of the game with a fine finish on 82 minutes which sealed a deserved home triumph. The match attracted a fine attendance of 432.

The magnificent Mark Cadwallader bagged a hat-trick inside the opening half-hour as second-place Flint Town United saw off Porthmadog 3-1 at Cae-y-Castell.

Jay Gibbs replied on the stroke of half time, but that was the end of the scoring.

An Anthony Marshall own goal in the closing minutes enabled Conwy Borough to claim the local bragging rights with a 1-0 victory at Llandudno.

The Tangerines were indebted to keeper Ben Heald for saving a second-half penalty from Alfons Fosu-Mensah.

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant’s brilliant start to the campaign continued as they defeated illustrious visitors Rhyl 2-1.

Marc Griffiths scored twice for the hosts, who join Prestatyn and Flint on 12 points and lie third on GD. Aaron Hassall netted for the Lilywhites.

Llangefni Town and Buckley Town shared a 2-2 draw at Lon Talwrn.

Iwan Jones and Matthew Jones were the Cefni marksmen, a Craig Roberts own goal and Adam Eden effort ensuring Bucks took a point home.

And it also ended two-apiece between two promoted sides in Llanfair United and Corwen.

Toby Evans and Karl Seliaerts were on target for the Powys outfit, Joe Williams and Matt Williams sealing a first point for the visitors.

Sammy Litchfield, Adam Davies and Jake Cook were Guilsfield’s hitmen in a 3-1 triumph at Penrhyncoch, Jonathan Evans for the Roosters, and Ruthin Town were held 1-1 at home by Gresford Athletic.

Jake Eyre gave the Colliers a half-time lead, but Llyr Morris levelled from the spot on 50 minutes.
