Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League: Rhuddlan fight back for draw, Llysfaen and NFA both hit seven

Llandudno Athletic, with manager Rhys Lane back row – furthest right – found winning form at Rhos United

Rhuddlan Town fought back from 2-0 down to grab a commendable 2-2 draw at Llansannan in the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division.

Two early goals from Leon Gierke, one a penalty, put Tom Lewis’ side in seeming command, but Town, who were without a number of key players, hit back with an Ian Davenport double to share the spoils.

Rhuddlan boss Wayne Hughes paid tribute to his side’s fitness in the extreme heat.

He said: “The game could have gone any way with both sides creating good chances. Great game of football and a draw a fair result.”

Luke Astley and Elliot Lloyd were on target as Meliden outscored Llanfairfechan Town, while a Jordan Dixon goal was enough for Llandudno Athletic to triumph 1-0 at Rhos United.

Cerrigydrudion and Y Glannau played out a 1-1 draw.

In Division One, NFA made it two wins out of two with 12 goals scored and none conceded after a 7-0 victory at Rhyl All Stars.

Both sides were playing at ‘home’ as they share the same Rhyl High School pitch, but on this occasion NFA were down as the away team.

Niall McGuinness made it a pair of hat-tricks in as many games with three fabulous left-foot finishes, the second of which was a true pearler from 25 yards.

Jordan Taylor added a double, Ste Falvey and Will Turner providing singles.

Llanfairfechan Town Reserves and Penrhyn Bay Dragons split a 3-3 verdict.

Elliot Croston (2) and Jamie Baker were the Llanfair hitmen, Luke Jones, Tom Parry and Solomon Dickens for the Dragons.

Sean Sheridan knocked in three as Llysfaen whipped Henllan 7-2, Nathan Russell and Jake Reynolds adding two each, Dan Williams and Alex Thomas replying.
