Colwyn Bay skipper Sion Morris admits last weekend’s second postponed fixture of the season against close rivals Orrell Red Triangle left the North Wales side massively disappointed.

The Bay had high hopes of picking up a win and improving their position which currently sees them 17 points adrift of safety in the 1st XI Premier League bottom two.

“It was a hugely frustrating weekend for us last week with missing another fixture against Orrell,” said Morris. 

“We’ve missed them twice this year now and it’s always frustrating when you have matches rained off against clubs around you in the league.”

Tomorrow brings a big test at home to third-place New Brighton, where Colwyn lost by seven wickets earlier in the season.

Morris added: “We’ll need to be at our best to beat New Brighton, who possess a couple of the most destructive batsmen in the league in Andrew Clarke and Mark Rowland.”

Harry Ramsden and Adam Campion returns for tomorrow’s tussle at Penrhyn Avenue after their unavailability last week with Tom Roberts and Jamie Moorhouse dropping down to the seconds.

Prestatyn v Fleetwood Hesketh

With Prestatyn’s chances of facing basement side Wavertree ruined by rain for the second time this season last weekend, the North Wales team will hope for better luck tomorrow when next-to-bottom Fleetwood Hesketh are due to visit Beach Close.

Prestatyn are currently in the bottom three, but hold an 18-point advantage over Fleetwood.

All-rounder Gareth Boughey and bowling ace Adam Tidswell are back on call for the home side tomorrow.

Prestatyn skipper David Harris said: “Yet again the weather ruined our fixture last Saturday which meant we haven’t had chance to face Wavertree this season.

“Hoping the outlook is brighter this week. Gaz Boughey and Adam Tidswell return to bolster the side as we just look to keep improving – and most importantly enjoying playing.”
