Three boxing brothers all aiming to go as far in the sport as they can.

The Humphreys lads of Porthmadog – Wayne and twins Cafan and Ben – are a bit like North Wales’ version of the famous Smith brothers from Liverpool.

All were in action in Derby last weekend and all three of them won. The trio all remain unbeaten.

Here are some quick Q and As with these popular warriors, who train at Marvin Pritchard’s successful MPMA gym in Porthmadog.

WAYNE HUMPHREYS

When did you start boxing: At the age of 12, but I stopped and started back in January 2019 after 17 years out
Current record: 3-0
Titles held: UBA Welsh heavyweight
Main strength as a boxer: Don’t know
Biggest weakness: red wine😂
Best performance so far: All 3 have been over so fast
Best part of training: pad work
Worst part of training: cardio
Favourite boxer: Mike Tyson/ Nigel Benn
Best Welsh boxer ever: The Pride of Wales
Who’s the best? Tyson Fury, Wilder or Joshua?: Tyson without a doubt
Do you take part in any other sports? If so, which: Did play rugby

Walk on music: All of The Lights/ Ready or Not
Best venue boxed at so far: Not sure, but looking forward to Shell Island (October)

CAFAN HUMPHREYS

When did you start boxing: Started when I was 9, stopped when I was 12, then got back in to it last year.
Current record: 4 wins no losses (2 wins by ko)
Titles held: UBA British heavyweight title
Main strength as a boxer: Probably my movement for a heavyweight
Biggest weakness: Guinness
Best performance so far: Don’t really know. They all involved different type of styles I used.
Best part of training: There isn’t
Worst part of training: It all
Role model: Joe Calzaghe
Favourite boxer: Joe Calzaghe
Least favourite boxer: Amir Khan
Best Welsh boxer ever: Joe Calzaghe
Who’s the best? Tyson Fury, Wilder or Joshua?: Fury

Boxing ambitions: Keep on winning and get as far as I can.

Main strength as a boxer: Power & heart

Best performance so far: first fight – ko 1st round
Best part of training: the end of session
Worst part of training: the beginning
Role model: Ruiz
Favourite boxer:Joe Calzaghe
Least favourite boxer: Amir Khan
