Zebb Edwards has returned to the club where his footballing family has a long and proud association.

The versatile performer, who was 25 this month, has rejoined Prestatyn Town of the Cymru North after a spell at neighbours Meliden of the Tier 4 North Wales Coast East League Premier Division.

Zebb has had two previous stints with the Seasiders, in 2017/18 and 2019/20, and has also represented top clubs such as Airbus, Llandudno and Holywell Town during his career.

He is the youngest of four talented footballing brothers from Prestatyn.

Their father, John (Teddy) Edwards, is regarded as one of the finest goalkeepers in Prestatyn Town’s history.

All the Edwards brothers have played in the Cymru Premier with eldest Kai also a former defender with Wrexham’s first team and full-timer for The New Saints.

Twins Noah and Zyaac, aged 27, both have considerable Welsh Premier experience.

Zebb was a hot prospect from the very start, emerging through the Airbus FC Academy before being promoted to the first team squad with a pro contract in June 2016, aged 17.

In 2015/16, he made two substitute appearances for Airbus in the Welsh Premier and the following season featured in 10 top flight matches for the Wingmakers.

Summer 2017 saw Zebb join Noah and Zyaac at Prestatyn Town.

In a difficult 2017/18 season, which saw successful long-serving manager Neil Gibson leave the club in January, the Seasiders finished bottom of the Welsh Premier and were relegated.

Zebb’s first team opportunities were limited over the campaign.

In summer 2018, Zebb moved to Llandudno, but was loaned out to Cymru Alliance club Holywell Town early that season.

Zebb performed well at Halkyn Road, playing mainly in defence and making 16 first team appearances, scoring twice.

He returned to Llandudno in January 2019 and played in a couple of WPL games for the club before the end of the season.

In 2019-20, Zebb rejoined a revamped Prestatyn Town with Gibson back at the helm.

A great season ensued, with Town winning the Cymru North title in a canter and Zebb being a regular in the side.

Unfortunately, Prestatyn were refused promotion to the Cymru Premier on a licensing issue. Gibson later departed and Zebb decided, like almost all of the title-winning squad, to move on.

Zebb re-signed for Cymru North Holywell Town, but sadly all football below the Cymru Premier in the 2020-21 season was cancelled due to coronavirus.

He went on to become a great success in a Holywell shirt, making 65 appearances between 2021-22 and 2023-24, notching 23 goals, also winning the NEWFA Challenge Cup and finishing Cymru North runners-up with the Wellmen.

Somewhat surprisingly, Zebb joined Meliden in January 2024 and made 11 first team appearances before the end of this season.
