NORTH WALES COAST WOMEN’S LEAGUE – OCTOBER 18

Kinmel Bay 2 (Perry 20, Standing 45)

Denbigh Town 2 (Evans 23, Bell 62)

What a fantastic display of women’s football as Kinmel Bay and Denbigh battled it out in an entertaining 2–2 draw.

Both sides showed determination, quality and plenty of fight in a thrilling encounter that could have gone either way.

Kinmel Bay broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Lucy Perry produced a brilliant individual run, driving forward with the ball before unleashing a superb strike that found the back of the net.

However, Denbigh wasted no time in responding. Just three minutes later, Lleucu Williams played a lovely ball through to Sophie Evans, who powered an unstoppable shot high into the goalkeeper’s left corner to bring the visitors level .

With half-time approaching, Kinmel Bay regained the advantage in spectacular fashion, Tasha Standing stepped up to take a corner and delivered an absolute beauty, curling the ball directly into the back of the net. A fantastic goal that sent Bay into the break with a 2–1 lead.

HALF TIME: KINMEL BAY LADIES 2–1 DENBIGH LADIES

Denbigh’s Cara Jones (12) comes up against Kinmel Bay’s Georgia Williams

Denbigh came out for the second half determined to find a way back into the game, applying pressure and pushing forward in search of an equaliser.

Their persistence paid off in the 62nd minute, when Evans turned provider, finding Catrin Bell, whose effort found its way past the Bay keeper.

With everything still to play for, both teams continued to battle at a tremendous pace. The game opened up, with end-to-end football and some thunderous strikes testing both goalkeepers. Neither side was willing to settle for a point, but both keepers were equal to the challenge, producing some outstanding saves to keep their teams in the contest.

Despite chances at both ends and a fiercely contested final period, neither team could find the winning goal.

The final whistle brought an end to a fantastic game of football, with both sides sharing the points after a hard-fought and entertaining encounter.
