Birthday boy Luke has made a tremendous start to the season in front of goal

Happy birthday to a striker who has made a storming start to the new season.

Luke O’Mahoney, 37 today, has notched seven goals in his opening four matches for Tier 3 Ardal North West club Llanrwst United.

He joined the Rwsters in October last season, going on to represent both the Parc Gwydir club and Conwy Borough Vets.

O’Mahoney first broke through on the North Wales football scene aged 18 in 2007-08 when he netted eight goals in seven appearances for Denbigh Town in the tier 2 Cymru Alliance.

The striker later moved to Llandudno, where he was part of the 2008-09 NWCFA Challenge Cup winning side.

Spells at many other clubs followed, among them Llandudno Junction and Llanfairfechan Town before he joined Llandudno Amateurs in 2019-20, scoring five goals in nine matches before switching to CPD Gronant in January 2020.

In 2023-24, he signed for Rhos United (formerly Mochdre) Vets, notching 17 goals in just 12 outings.

Then in 2024-25, he represented Bow FC of the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division before a spell at Conwy Borough.

Last season O’Mahoney was at St Asaph City, scoring twice for them in the FAW Amateur Trophy before committing to Llanrwst, where his form this season has been magnificent.
