Good to see Luke O’Mahoney giving it a go in tier 3

An interesting new name appeared on the Conwy Borough team sheet today.

The experienced Luke O’Mahoney made his debut for the Tangerines in an unfortunate 3-2 defeat at Trearddur Bay in Ardal North West.

Luke, 35, first broke through on the North Wales football scene aged 18 in 2007-08 when he netted eight goals in seven appearances for Denbigh Town in the tier 2 Cymru Alliance.

The striker later moved to Llandudno, where he was part of the 2008-09 NWCFA Challenge Cup winning side.

Spells at many other clubs followed, among them Llandudno Junction and Llanfairfechan Town before he joined Llandudno Amateurs in 2019-20, scoring five goals in nine matches before switching to CPD Gronant in January 2020.

In 2023-24, he signed for Rhos United (formerly Mochdre) Vets, notching 17 goals in just 12 outings.

This season he has split his time between Rhos Vets, netting six times in three games, and Bow FC of the tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division.

Conwy Borough became his latest club this weekend.

Conwy said after the game: “Luke is an experienced player with lots of quality who turned in a great performance today on debut. Luke is also a coach within our junior section.”
