There are few better occasions in football than seeing unsung heroes get the recognition they truly deserve.
Such was the case with two Llangefni Town stalwarts last week at the club’s AGM.
Both Dai Sinclair and John Buckland were made honorary members of the club in tribute their outstanding service and commitment over many years.
John managed Llangefni Juniors during the mid-1990s before going on to coach the Llangefni Town Reserves in the early 2000s.
The 2002-03.season was particularly special for the reserves as John and the late Rob Hughes guided them to a very rare five-timer.
Cefni became Anglesey League champions, plus winners of the Dargie, Elias and Thomas & Williams, plus the A.E.E.U. Cup.
Today, John is best known as the voice of the club on matchdays, carrying out the role of matchday announcer with enthusiasm and professionalism for many years. He used to perform the same duty for Bangor City at Farrar Road.
Dai also managed Llangefni Juniors during the mid-1990s and later served as secretary for Llangefni Reserves in the early 2000s.
However, he is perhaps best known as the man behind the camera, capturing countless memorable moments and producing excellent photographs that showcase the club both on and off the pitch.
His sons, Stephen and Andrew, have also played for the club.
Both John and Dai have dedicate an enormous amount of time and effort to Llangefni Town FC, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved.
