Friday football: Debutant Murphy rescues point for Llangefni Town

Debutant Jordan Murphy’s late equaliser secured Llangefni Town a 1-1 draw against Porthmadog in the JD Cymru North.

The returning Josh Davies hit the post in the seventh minute, but Cefni would have grabbed the lead themselves only for a fine Paul Pritchard save.

Port won a 38th minute penalty and Davies converted from the spot.

Just before half time Rob Evans almost made it two, but home keeper Stephen Sinclair did well to deny him.

Sinclair, who recently re-signed for the club, was the hero again early in the second half when he foiled Davies from close range, then soon after John Owen was also thwarted by the keeper.

Llangefni began to come more into the game as the half progressed, but clear chances were proving hard to create.

Visiting keeper Pritchard needed lengthy treatment before being able to carry on after injury, then in the 82nd minute came the equaliser.

A rare error from Pritchard, perhaps still feeling the effects of his knock, allowed Murphy to pounce and 1-1 was how it ended.

Port will see this game as a missed opportunity, having failed to take advantage of the long periods of pressure they enjoyed.
