Cymru North: 10-man Porthmadog pick up fine point, Gresford and Llangefni draw, emphatic Ruthin win

Ten-man Porthmadog twice came from behind to earn a well-deserved 2-2 draw at Conwy Borough.

A game blighted by controversy saw its most contentious moment occur just before the interval.

Port’s defensive mainstay Iddon Price received his marching orders from referee Nathan Bartram, acting on the advice of his assistant.

It was a decision which left players and fans alike totally dumbfounded and also resulted in a penalty which Corrig McGonigle converted for a half-time lead to Boro.

Despite being reduced in numbers, the visitors, driven by injustice, took the game to their opponents throughout the second period.

On 67 minutes, the deserved equaliser arrived when John Owen coolly directed the ball into an unguarded net.

Port hopes took a serious dent when the ball was given away in midfield and they were punished by pacy sub Liam Morris. He broke left and his low angled shot beat Paul Pritchard.

The visitors refused to lie down. A melee in the goalmouth saw Conwy fail to clear and there was sub Rhys Alun in the right spot to belt the ball over the line in the 81st minute to secure a point.

There was also a 2-2 outcome at Clappers Lane, where Gresford Athletic were held by Llangefni Town.

Jack Jones and Jordan MacCarter struck on 43 and 54 minutes respectively for Gresford, Steffan Jones and Jamie Roberts the Cefni responders after 49 and 61.

Khyam Wyton (pen), Joe Vaughan and Iwan Matthews were on target for Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant in a 3-0 success at Penrhyncoch, who had beaten leaders Prestatyn Town at Cae Baker seven days earlier.

Kevin Evans, Llyr Morris, Dan Cox and Will Owen scored one apiece in Ruthin Town’s 4-1 whipping of Llanfair United.

Postponed: Corwen v Llandudno.
