Evergreen striker Ceri Roberts recently reached a prestigious double goalscoring landmark.
The 40-year-old front man broke the 150-goals barrier for Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs and passed the 250-mark in his senior career.
Those figures would have been much more substantial had a number of injuries not blighted the popular forward’s progress.
Roberts is certainly having an Indian Summer in the current campaign, having found the net regularly since March, a run which has coincided with the Quarrymen’s excellent end to their comeback season in Tier 4.
Having been promoted to the North Wales Coast West Premier Division as last season’s Division One champions and also NWCFA Junior Challenge Cup winners, Blaenau currently sit in fourth place.
Their winning streak includes a superb 1-0 triumph over title favourites Nefyn United, the deciding goal a long-range effort from ‘Yeboah’ which ranks as one of the finest strikes of his long-running career.
Roberts returned to Cae Clyd in November last year, his long association with the club including a stint as player-manager where he led the club from the bottom of Welsh Alliance Division Two in 2016-17 to Division One stability in 2019-20.

Born on October 23, 1985, Ceri Wyn Roberts’ first footballing steps began with the local Under-11s side in Blaenau.
Within a couple of years, he developed an eye for goal, and was signed up by Wolverhampton Wanderers as well as being involved with the Welsh Schoolboys set up.
He did not quite make the grade at Molineux, but nonetheless went on to carve out an impressive career in North Wales football.
Ceri represented Porthmadog in their Welsh Premier days, one of his highlights scoring a late equaliser after coming on as sub in a 2-2 League Cup draw at Caernarfon Town in 2007/08.
Later, he turned out for Llanrwst United, Barmouth and Dyffryn United and of course Blaenau Amateurs, where he spent many seasons as a regular goalscorer,
When Ceri took over as manager at Cae Clyd in 2016-17, they initially finished bottom of Welsh Alliance Division Two, but two seasons later the club’s fortunes were totally transformed.
That 2018-19 campaign saw Blaenau start brilliantly, winning 15 of their first 18 league matches and looking like title certs at one point.
A slight dip in form at the turn of the year brought them back to the chasing pack, but a strong finish ensured the Quarrymen ended up second, just two points behind champions Glan Conwy.
This brought promotion to Division One, where they finished the curtailed 2019-20 season in a respectable position.
Ceri stepped down as Blaenau manager in 2020 and after football returned following the Covid pandemic in 2021-22, he spent a season and a half with Barmouth before rejoining the Quarrymen in November 2022. He returned to Bermo in 2022-23.
Ceri fell seriously ill last season while manager of Bamouth, but recovered well and at the age of 40 and feeling in fine fettle rejoined Blaenau in November. where he is playing with a new lease of life. Long may he continue!
