Wrexham side Queens Park lifted their sixth club trophy of the season on Saturday – and they could yet make it seven.

The Park’s first team secured the Premier Cup with a 3-2 win over Coedpoeth at Brymbo SSC and have a treble in their sights next weekend when they tackle Greenfield in the Horace Wynne Cup final.

After the disappointment of the reserves losing 1-0 to Llay Welfare in the Reserve League Cup final on Thursday, the Park were back to winning ways two days later in the shape of Arran Taylor’s first XI.

The success across the club this year has been nothing short of remarkable. The Vets have already wrapped up an incredible treble, the Reserves secured the league title in style, and now the firsts have added another major honour to what is becoming an historic season for the Park.

It wasn’t all plain sailing in Saturday’s final though. The game started poorly for Queens Park, with Coedpoeth striking first through Michael Taylor with just five minutes played.

Credit must go to a very young and talented Coedpoeth team who pushed Queens Park all the way from the first whistle to the last.

They showed quality, determination and tremendous character throughout the match and deserve huge praise for their performance.

In true Queens Park fashion, however, the players responded with courage, composure and quality when it mattered most.

A brilliant double from the ever-dangerous Nicky Williams was scored either side of a Tom Freeman crucial goal to complete a thrilling 3-2 victory.

Alex Whiting bagged Coedy’s second on 74 minutes, but Williams soon delivered the decider.

The celebrations at the final whistle said it all.

Captain Rhys Hughes proudly lifted the trophy high into the air as the Queens Park supporters celebrated another unforgettable chapter in what has already become a golden season for the club.

This success has been built on hard work, togetherness and belief throughout the entire squads and management teams across the club.
