Sara Williams said farewell to CPD Pwllheli on Sunday – and she has already decided on her next move.
The 38-year-old goalkeeper will join Penmaenmawr Phoenix Yellows of the North Wales Recreational Women’s League next season.
Pen will be the latest stop in the career of this tremendous servant to North Wales football, who has won a host of honours at various clubs.
Her most successful spell by far has been with Pwllheli, winning back-to-back league doubles as well as two cups. Six winners’ medals were collected over three glorious seasons.
It was an emotional day when she played her final game for Pwll, a 5-0 win over Llanystumdwy on Sunday.
She said: “Pwllheli has been amazing with me. The welcome I have had off the girls has been fantastic, I wish them very best in the upcoming season.
“I’ll be joining Penmaenmawr Phoenix Yellows in the recreational league and I’m really looking forward to starting now.”
Sara joined Pwllheli at the start of 2023-24, going on to make 66 appearances and scoring one goal in a 6-0 win over Llanystumdwy.
She spent 2022-23 at Caernarfon Town, featuring in 20 games and netting twice.
The 2021-22 season was something special for Sara as she won the inaugural Adran North title with Llandudno as a goalkeeper, making 26 appearances in all competitions. In 14 league matches she conceded just 18 goals – by far the lowest total in the new Tier 2 league.
While predominantly recognised for being a keeper, the mother-of-three has also spent plenty of time as an outfield player over the years, mainly operating in defence.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix Yellows will become the 10th club of her career next season.
