JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS – APRIL 3

Holywell Town 0 Airbus UK Broughton 3

Despite losing at home for only the second time this season, Holywell have secured a top three place in the JD Cymru North which will secure them promotion to the Cymru Premier – provided they attain a Tier 1 licence.
Newtown’s home loss to Mold Alexandra guaranteed the Wellmen a berth in that all-important leading trio which also includes Llandudno and the team which won at Bartons North Wales stadium on Friday – Airbus UK Broughton.
Mason Blackwell-Jones put the Wingmakers ahead in the 19th minute via a James Davies assist.
The score remained 1-0 until the hour when Jake Roberts notched his 24th goal of the campaign, Joshua Stevenson this time the supplier.
Sub Kaiden Cooke completed the scoring after 84 minutes, benefiting from Davies’ second assist of the afternoon.

Llandudno 5 Ruthin Town 2

Leaders Llandudno needed two late goals to finally kill off the challenge of resilient bottom side Ruthin.
It was one-apiece at half time, Marc Williams netting for Tudno and Danny Holland keeping up his great scoring form with the equaliser.
A pair of goals early in the second half put the Seasiders in seeming command, Joe Faux on target after 48 minutes and Mark Cadwallder striking on 53.
Ruthin kept battling and set up an interesting finish when Joel Giblin cut the deficit to one.
However, sub Adam Stephens found the net on 80 and 85 to edge Tudno to within two points of the title.

Denbigh Town 1 Penrhyncoch 0

Nathan Brown’s 19th goal of the season with just nine minutes on the clock sealed Denbigh three points against next-to-bottom Penrhyncoch.
Town finished with 10 men after Ben Lockley was red-carded on 61 minutes.

Newtown 1 Mold Alexandra 2

Another fine win for Mold who continued their end-of-season power surge with a great result at Latham Park.
This was a fifth vctory in six outings for Barry Owen’s men, who are solid and secure in eighth place.
Max McGoona missed a penalty for the Flintshire visitors in the first half, but Tyler Berry edged Alex ahead on 57 and McGoona made up for his earlier failure when he made it 2-0 after 59.
Devon Torry was also unable to score from the spot for Newtown on 82, Joseph Smith producing a good save, only for Jamie Hyne to pocket his 23rd goal of the campaign from the rebound.

Buckley Town 0 Brickfield Rangers 6

Jay Richardson was a hat-trick hero for a Brickfield side which ran riot at The Globe.
Having beaten Buckley 4-0 at home early in the season, Friday’s result amounted to quite an ‘aggregate’ victory for the Wrexham-based Rangers.
Richardson netted on 9 and 27 before Danny Jones added a third on 31 and Gerson Silva Neto made it four close to the break.
Star Richardson made it a treble after 72 minutes and Jack Edwards brought up the half-dozen on 86.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1 Guilsfield 2

No-one wants fourth place in the Cymru North it seems.
Rhyl 1879 had the chance to take over that position after Newtown’s home defeat to Mold Alexandra, but the Lilywhites slipped up against a Guilsfield outfit which had not recorded a victory in eight league matches.
Guils had been triumphant at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium in January in a Welsh Blood Service League Cup tie, so may have felt they were visiting a happy hunting ground on Friday.

Dan Atkins handed the hosts a half time lead via a Morgan Murray assist, but early second period strikes from James Smallwood and Jake Cook turned the tables for Gavin Allen’s men.

Flint Mountain 1 Holyhead Hotspur 2

With both these teams already assured of Cymru North status next season, the pressure was off somewhat at Bastion Gardens.
But that did not prevent a good competitive affair taking place.
James Phillips gave Hotspur a 34th minute lead before on 37 birthday boy Connor Owen grabbed his 15th goal of the season.
Three minutes into the second half, Luca Hogan pulled one back for Mountain and it was game on!
However, there were no more goals and Holyhead held on for just a second away league win of the campaign, also completing a double over Mountain.

Gresford Athletic 0 Caersws 2

An early goal in each half banked the points for Caersws, Craig Harris netting on three minutes and Harry Cottam after 47, Thomas Edwards assisting for both,
