The old-fashioned belief that the number 13 is unlucky is a myth – ask Airbus.
On Friday the 13th, the Wingmakers made it 13 straight wins to return to the summit and clinch a top-three promotion spot in the JD Cymru North.
Mold Alexandra had been the last team to stop Airbus winning in a 1-1 draw at Alyn Park back in November, but the return game produced an entirely different outcome as Mark Allen’s stars ran riot at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
Leading the way was Danny Warren, who hit a hat-trick against his former club, made it 16 goals for the season and 44 in 68 appearances since he joined the Broughton outfit in July 2024.
Warren set the ball rolling after just three minutes when he found the bottom corner via a George Peers cross.
Mold had a couple of opportunities to hit back, Owen Cordiner’s deflected shot well saved by Keighan Jones before the keeper kept out Max McGoona’s header.
However, the dark blues showed the way to score on 41 minutes when a neat reverse pass by Jake Roberts enabled Warren to pocket his second.
A minute later it was three when Roberts headed in at the second attempt after Jordan Evans’ initial shot was blocked.
Half-time: 3-0
Three minutes into the second half, Warren completed his second hat-trick of the season when he knocked in an Evans free kick at the near post.
In the 60th minute top-scorer Peers got in on the act when he profited from Evans’ second assist of the night.
The on-fire Jake Roberts made it 6-0 with a stunning shot – his 22nd goal of the campaign.
Goal seven arrived on 79 when Evans’ corner was headed down by Blaine Hudson and Joshua Stevenson found the net.
And the final word went to that man Peers, the league top-scorer gettting his 22nd of the season and 26th across all competitions with a superb header from a perfect Jordan Evans cross.
A seventh straight league defeat for Buckley who are now without a win in 10 Cymru North matches.
The latest team to inflict pain on the Bucks were Denbigh Town, who themselves were on a barren run of five consecutive league losses before turning the tables at The Globe on Friday.
Nathan Brown laid the foundations for a crucial win with his 15th and 16th goals of the season, netting on 7 and 27 minutes to hand the visitors a 2-1 interval lead, Connor Littler replying on 16 for the hosts.
Brown turned provider on 61 minutes when he set up Daniel Davies to make it 3-1 to Dewi Llion’s side.
And Denbigh sealed the points after 87 when sub Alfie Vaughan notched his eighth league goal of the campaign, Sion Jones the provider. This result gave Denbigh some daylight in seventh spot.
Another bad night for the basement side as they suffered a fourth straight loss in Cymru North combat.
Flint Mountain had lost four on the bounce themselves, but moved out of the bottom three with three points at the Memorial Playing Fields.
Jack Burman fired the visitors in front on 10 minutes before Luca Hogan doubled the Mountain tally after 35.
Llyr Morris pulled one back with 72 on the clock, but it was not enough to save Ruthin from defeat.
