Diolch yn fawr Mr Parry – CPD Genod Llanystumdwy manager will step down at end of season

Sion Parry (back row – furthest right) lines up with CPDM Llanystumdwy

CPD Llanystumdwy can confirm that Sion Parry will step down from his role as Ladies Team Manager at the end of the current season.

Sion has played a huge part in the development and progress of the ladies team, dedicating countless hours of hard work, commitment, and passion to the club.

Under his leadership the team has continued to grow both on and off the pitch, creating a positive environment for players to develop and enjoy their football.

Over the last couple of seasons, the team’s results and positions in the Tier 3 North Wales leagues have improved immensely and some excellent cup runs have been rewarded with ties against the likes of Swansea City abd Wrexham in major competitions.

As a player, Parry was a Llanystumdwy legend, scoring 257 goals in 225 games including a hat-trick in his team’s 2016 NWCFA Intermediate Cup final victory over Llandudno Albion.

He managed the men’s team before and after injury brought a premature end to his playing career, and at one stage was in charge of both the male and female teams.

This season he has focused on the women’s side, of which his partner Tash Matthews is captain, and enjoyed great progression,

CPD Llanystumdwy said: “Everyone at Llanystumdwy FC would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sion for everything he has done for the team and the club. His contribution has been greatly valued and appreciated by players, staff, and supporters alike.
“Sion will remain in charge until the end of the season and we look forward to finishing the campaign strongly together.”

Parry said on social media: “It’s been one hell of a ride, the experiences of playing vs Wrexham & Swansea especially, but that doesn’t come without the fight we put in at higher level Berriew with just 11 players, or beating Pwllheli for the first time ever, over the last few years we’ve travelled over North Wales with limited numbers and put up big performances to come away with 3 points.
“But it wouldn’t be anything without the players who give up their time for training & games, who have given their all during tough times and never gave up on me or the club, the support from family and friends who have travelled with us – or stayed at home to allow players to play, the people at the club who’ve helped with running the team day to day, to players of the mens team who get the pitch ready and help out on match days or just by simply coming to support.
“It’s been an amazing experience, and i’ve met people that will be friends forever, we’ve all been through this together and hopefully someone new comes it and carries it on.
“Now to see what the future holds, but for now…
“Diolch i chi gyd💛💙”

Grassroots North Wales comment

Women’s football is a mixed bag for our website – some teams cannot do enough to help while others do absolutely nothing.
Sion Parry is very much in the ‘will help all I can’ category.
His excellent reports over the past couple of seasons or so have really boosted our coverage and been of great benefit to the team
I will miss working with Sion, but hopefully we will cross paths in the future.
Seeing the development of Llanystumdwy has been one of the true pleasures of covering women’s football in recent seasons.
So much of that is down to the work of Sion Parry – a women’s football champion, as well as a legendary marksman in the men’s game. Only David Lloyd George could claim to be more famous in Llanystumdwy!
Diolch Sion, pob lwc
